SAFETY

SawStop saws are equipped with a safety system that detects when someone accidentally contacts the spinning saw blade, and then stops the blade within 5 milliseconds. In most cases, such an accident would result in just a nick on a SawStop saw, instead of the devastating injury which would likely occur on an ordinary table saw.

The SawStop safety system includes an electronic detection system that detects when a person contacts the blade. The system induces an electrical signal onto the blade and then monitors that signal for changes. The human body has a relatively large inherent electrical capacitance and conductivity, which cause the signal to drop when a person contacts the blade. Wood has a relatively small inherent capacitance and conductivity and does not cause the signal to drop

The SawStop® Industrial Cabinet Saw has several other features to help operators stay safe and prevent injury with always-on protection.

• The low profile blade guard can be used even on narrow cuts, which means you can take advantage of the added protection of the blade guard, even on cuts as narrow as ¾ of an inch.
• Riving knife minimizes kickback and provides protection during non-through cuts.
• The blade is well shrouded to improve dust collection and reduce airborne particulates.
• No rough edges. The zero-clearance insert supports the wood throughout the cut and reduces tear-out and chip-out.
• A diagnostic self-check runs when you start the saw to ensure all systems are ready to detect an accident.
• Our large start/stop paddle with hands-free shutoff can be stopped with your knee allowing you to safely stop the blade even when both hands are busy. The paddle is located on the left side of the saw to minimize accidental shut off.
• The main power switch with lockout key prevents unauthorized users from operating the saw.
• Accessing the inside of the cabinet is easy with two safety-interlocked doors. The safety interlocks ensure the motor won’t start if either door is open.
• When the power goes out, the saw stays off. The safety system won’t allow the motor to restart automatically when the power comes back on.
• Left-tilting blade prevents wood from binding against the fence.
  

CONVENIENCE

SawStop worked hard to make the SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw as easy to use as possible.

• Gas assisted elevation adjustments provide incredibly smooth movement when raising and lowering the blade.
• It is easy to change between blade guard and riving knife with the tool-free blade guard quick change mechanism. Operators can make changes quickly with no tools required, minimizing disruptions to workflow.
• Getting the right measurement is easy with the magnified indicator lenses and smooth sliding surfaces on the T-Glide™ Industrial Series Fence.
• Cut anything – even conductive material. The safety bypass allows you to temporarily disable the braking system so you can cut conductive material. The bypass resets to safe mode as soon as the motor is turned off to prevent accidental use of the saw in bypass mode.
• The cast iron table includes a precision alignment system that lets you align the miter slots and blade to the last thousandth of an inch.

• Each saw is inspected and adjusted until it meets SawStop stringent quality standards before it leaves the manufacturing floor. SawStop's 205-point inspection assures that your saw arrives to you properly aligned and ready for use.
• The widely spaced trunnion assembly contains 20% more iron than other cabinet saws, providing solid stability to reduce vibration. With easy-to-access adjustments for blade alignment and tilt, it’s a snap to fine-tune your saw.
• Our elevation system operates on a vertical slide rather than on an arc providing you with repeatability and consistent alignment. Blade height is proportional to handle turns at all elevations.
• The 8-inch chrome plated adjustment wheels look and feel great. The wide wheel radius gives you extra leverage to make small adjustments easily.
• Dual, poly-V ribbed belt drive reduces vibration. The second belt isolates the arbor from the motor reducing the effect of harmonic vibration that can occur at certain motor speeds. The result is smooth operation throughout the cut.
• SawStop's widely spaced glide plates and adjustable rail provide smooth travel up and down the extension table.
